As a long time GH viewer and fan of the coupling Liason I was always happy to see mentions of the Liason flagship website The Canvas mentioned in your pages. However, in recent days a distributing event surrounding the recent transfer of ownership of that website has surfaced. Many members have felt and been affected by a growing and continuing trend of censorship over the last couple years at the site that has prevented many from understanding the extent of internal changes with the site. As (SID, SOD, SOW) played a role in increasing The Canvas popularity, I would hope that (SID, SOD, SOW) would also assist in allowing former and current TC members in learning both sides on the circumstances surrounding the recent events. Sadly, they are unable to do so on the "discussion board" they once relied on to share their thoughts and feelings in an open forum. All your readers should know: http://thecanvastruth.yuku.com
Thank you,
In light of the recent events surrounding The Canvas and the overwhelming number of posters who claim they only go to TC for the fanfic, I am requesting
that all fic writers discontinue posting their work at TC. I also request that all other Liason board owners allow those writers who do not have boards of
their own to utilize your sites so our wonderful Liason writers can find a new home.
If the worst happens and Koko/Casey do not get the board back, then Brooke and Amy should be left with a board that has a total of TWO members. They should not
be rewarded for their actions by being allowed to "steal" the reputation of the Liason flagship site that Koko and Casey built.
Thank you,
While the
initial fury has passed and unfortunately there will be several who will simply move on to a new board and The Canvas will be forgotten. I hate to imagine
anyone who knows the whole story would add their screen name to The Canvas membership roles again, but alas I'm sure there will be some. I believe that The
Canvas is loss, even if it is returned the demand for doing what's right and spreading the story has also damaged the image of the a place we all once felt
comfortable in. I also think the 3000+ members are not all active and many are among the group that signed up but didn't stick around and just never
removed their membership. I mean look at those of us who are protesting The Canvas, we might never have deleted our membership had this not happened and some
of us had not been to the site in years. I think someone looked at the memberships and several thousand had never posted a single post. So the numbers are
misleading.
The Canvas is now what Brooke intended, an empty shell filled with people towing the party line. What once was will never be again and I find that oddly
comforting, there is no doubt that The Canvas was special to all Liason fans, but what made it special were the people and for me the fact is the heart of The
Canvas has left, and what's left is only an incredibly ugly purple haze of blandness. No independent thinking person would ever stay at the current version
of The Canvas and again without those types of people The Canvas is already dead.
Liason fans are more spread out and some are feeling disenfranchised by recent events and I'll admit it was nice to go on line and know were you were going
to spend your time. But what I have learned over the last several weeks of cruising other boards is that I have actually enjoyed
being on line again. I am no longer a lurker, I am having real conversations with people again, I'm having conversations of absolutely no value whatsoever
and that's good too.
So what's a dedicated protester to do....continue to spread the word to every new Liason fan you meet, so while the outrage
is not as loud as the initial shock, as the old saying goes it is a marathon not a race. And we as Liason fans are masters at going
the long haul, a fact that should deeply trouble the "new" The Canvas owners.
The Real Deal (from Casey herself)
I just wanted to clear up some misconceptions, put a timeline out there from Koko and I. I'd do it at the Canvas but you know...I
lost err "gifted" my keys.
- The Canvas moved to Yuku with no issues.
- Koko's last post was in February of 2008.
- Koko was in contact with Jeweltones, via her personal email not too long ago this year. Koko explained she'd be MIA awhile for family reasons.
- We were honest we didn't have time for the day to day activities, it was why we finally got moderators after years and years of going at it alone.
- I visited the board on a fairly daily bases, mostly the spoiler thread....OKAY I only had the spoiler thread bookmarked. The Spoiler Only one too....(Woops
greatest contribution EVER to The Canvas!
) But I did browse when time
permitted.
- We didn't just discover the turnover, I've know since March 16. A few days after the announcement. (March 13 or 14 I believe)
- Here comes the part Koko hates....Never in a million years did I think there would be an abandonment clause, I thought Koko had "gifted" it to
them, cause truthfully my new job is my life and I barely even have time to talk to the coolest person I know, so while I was hurt and shocked at that time,
how else could they had gotten control right?
- I'll admit it, I couldn't deal with it. We were both pretty clear the half a dozen times that Brooke asked for the board, that we rather destroy it
than give it away. I was pissed. I fucked up by not saying anything to Koko. I was afraid I'd say something I'd regret. And as saddened as I was that
the Canvas was gone. Yeah I was sad, I was surprised just how sad I felt given that it rarely gave me any pleasure as of late. And by late I mean YEARS, it was
still ours, and I was quite sad. Yet if I'd have to choose, the Canvas over my Koko, I'd let that bitch burn to the ground. I'd throw kindle.
So I let it be……
- Koko having come home from a business trip yesterday, Sunday, text message me, wondering WTF was I thinking giving the board to Brooke et,al. Shockage ALL
around. Reaction Instant.
How we believe it happened?
Candy was the one who originally created the board in 2001. It was the first time we'd ever used Ezboard, and Candy created the user canvasliason and then
the community. We all then created at the local accounts with our names, candy, casey and koko. It's when we met a lot of you then, we posted ALL the time.
Eventually the whole Ezboard global user became an issue and we created CANVAS only accounts, like Canvas Admin, Canvas Publisher etc, and other personal
accounts because seriously who wants to post as the Canvas Admin on an OC board?
We never used canvasliason , never even gave it another thought. Over the seven years we've changed emails, purchased our own domains.....we reset, made
changes, keep on top of our personal and Canvas accounts...except one. The main one apparently. When you read the community profile, canvasliason was the Owner
and we were the Administrators. If Yuka even tried to make contact, by Brooke's prodding I'm sure, we believe canvasliason is the profile they would
have contacted and truth be told, we have no clue on where those emails would go. But they didn't come to us personally.
Even if they went through "legal" loopholes with Yuku, at the end of the day, Brooke and Amy NEVER contacted us at our personal emails that we
provided. They never called using the cell phone numbers we left with them to ask us our feelings on this matter.
Brooke & Amy continued to use their email addresses @thecanvas.tv. Which I still pay for monthly, clearly not abandoned. We still have the domain
thecanvas.tv up and running, also not abandoned.
Even after all of this....we have yet to receive an email from Brooke or Amy. But we have no problems getting emails of support from a lot of you here so
again. Big....huge...thank yous!
xoxo
Casey
PS: FTR Broke and Amy are only "financially responsible" for the Canvas because they took it from the people who were once "financially
responsible" for it!

Apparently, there's some major drama brewing on The Canvas, a Liason message board
that used to be owned and operated by Casey and Koko (circa 2001-2008). From what I understand in
reading a few posts here and there, and viewing two YouTube
clips (here and here) on the matter, Casey and Koko left the running of the board this year to two other people as moderators. Those moderators then took over,
banning Casey and Koko from their own message board, and have enforced harsh, unfair rules of posting, banning or scolding posters who spoke out on behalf of
the two originators, and banning posters who have made even mild criticisms of the character of Jason or continued to discuss spoilers that may not be true.
What's really bizarre is, the members helped financially pay for a revamped, improved board under Casey and Koko's leadership, and now it seems that
these moderators just decided to do a Mutiny on the Bounty.
